my wife makin

eggs and bacon

fried not shaken

got the munchies

crackers and cheese

with flavor guarantees

oh yes please

curry and rice

oh so nice

full of spice

eat it twice 

by all means

rice and beans

better than sardines

full of proteins

a software engineer

constantly drank beer

made him queer

ruined his career

fish and chips

lick your lips

and your fingertips

watching an eclipse

had a hunch

time to munch

soon be lunch

crispy salad crunch

hey come back

got a snack

in my backpack

its a sixpack

hi there mister

saw your sister

selling moonshine liquor

getting rich quicker

with enormous conceit

eat grilled meat

drink scotch neat

life now complete

dieting is no fun

denying yourself tasty food

eating leaves and cardboard

counting calories and carbs

dining out is pure torture

reading the menu is so hard

firing up your tastebuds 

before you order a boring salad

dressing on the side please

no cheese please

I’ll just have water thanks

how many carbs in a carrot

the scales become your enemy

trying everything to beat them

pre weighing toenail trim

and a skin scrub shower

step on scales slowly

hoping the numbers drop

only to see the naked truth

you are up a pound

back into cardio routine

drinking gallons of water

not looking at the wine bottles

avoiding cookie jar eye contact

you need a distraction

watch a movie on TV

but then there are commercials 

delicious foods fill the screen

lots of dieting coaches

telling you to try this and that

you discover a new dieting mantra

if it tastes good……. spit it out

Today is a gift of time for you to spend continuously. 

You are free to spend it wisely, spend your time with others or just go on a crazy wild all day self indulgent spending spree.

There is however no bank for you to deposit today’s time for the future, every passing moment must be spent but remember there are no returns or refunds allowed for bad choices.

At the end of the day take a few moments to reflect on the value of your purchases and think about how you might spend your gift of time tomorrow.

Just pop them pills from the TV and be happy

There will be a commercial for you

Smiling faces and happy pop music

Enticing you to ask your doctor to prescribe

Whispering the obligatory side effect warnings

The latest trend is weight loss drugs

Developed for treating diabetics

Now craved by rich healthy overweight people

Unwilling to diet and exercise

Just buy the magic drug to curb your appetite

Watch the weight just fall off

See your bank balance dwindle away

Ignore the side effect warnings of possible death

Who cares, at least you will die thin

Thankfully its all over now

Of a full makeover

Now rebuilt and looking fabulous

Watching folks do no good

Crime offered to me on a plate

But I always stayed straight

That just for mugs

Surrounded by insanity

I searched for some humanity

I became the local vigilante

When witnessing criminal activity

I use my personal creativity

They had preyed on the weak

A mourning dove sat on the railing

Soft cooing sounds filled the air

A second mourning dove arrived

More soft cooing

They watched the sunrise together

They both flew off to find food

The railing looked empty

They returned a while later

Contented cooing sounds

There are many paths to chose from in life

but very few markers or or maps to consult

parents and mentors can give you guidance

ultimately its up to you to navigate on your own

there will be dangerous obstacles to overcome

temptations abound for taking wrong turns

sometimes you will make mistakes

making U turns to get back on the right track

excuse me am I on the path to success 

will you show me the way to utopia

can I follow you on the road to happiness

how do I get on that gravy train

education is a great navigation tool 

not just learning facts and figures

for when you are at a dangerous crossroads

ethics and moral values will be your guides

sometimes the path gets steep and rocky

littered with failures and those who cling to you

pulling you in all directions and jumping on your back

offering you hedonistic rides to a non-existent paradise

does that sign say this way to riches without hard work

will I be seen as a failure if I give up now

this place has an evil smell

oh no I have been down this bad road before

the road seems never ending

indeed it will continue as a lifelong journey

the sweetest moments are the unplanned pauses

to smell the roses and bathe in the glorious scenery

when you have taken the right path and reached your goals

you can look back and figure out how you got there
