The birth of a mermaid

she was walking when it started to rain

at first it was just a few drops

she was apprehensive

but then came a downpour

she was far from any shelter

she started to get really concerned

she was quickly drenched

soaked to the skin

but it was summer and warm

she continued walking

surrendering to the power of the rain

looking for deep puddles to splash in

no longer worried or concerned

daring the rain to continue

walking more

the rain answered her dare

rivers ran down her arms and legs

she felt empowered by the rain

she continued walking

the rain began to taper off

she felt slightly cold

moisture was sucking the heat from her body

she continued walking

she started to shiver

finally she reached home

peeled off her wet clothes

stepped into a hot shower

it felt like warm rain

she wanted to stay there forever

letting the streaming water wash away her troubles

watching her worries flow away

with no desire to go back to the dry world

she wanted to be a mermaid

to feel water flow over her skin

to dive deep into the ocean

to swim far away from reality

to live in a subterranean world

where nobody could ever bother her

it started to rain again outside

she smiled

she started walking towards the shore

Blue Eyed Lady

Blue eyed lady

pretty lady

Walks an empty beach

Blue eyed lady

Fake mermaid lady

Siren of the sea

Blue eyed lady

Confident lady

Calls the ship to shore

Blue eyed lady

Magician lady

Sandbank moves unseen

Blue eyed lady

Devious lady

Shipwreck on the shore

Blue eyed lady

Trading lady

Selling salvaged cargo

Blue eyed lady

Business lady

Now she owns that beach

Mermaid

a young boy sat on the dock

fishing pole in hand

gazing at the water

dreaming of catching a mermaid

a young girl came beside him

smiling she asked his name

“Robert” he replied

she was very pretty

many years since passed

Robert never saw her again

he never married

he grew old

Robert sat alone on the dock

fishing pole in hand

staring at the water

dreaming of that young girl

nobody came to join him

the fish were not biting

no mermaid to be found

veiled in sadness

wishing that he could go back

to being that young boy

and meeting his girl again

his eyes closed

Robert fell into the water

gasping his last breath

he surrendered to the deep

it was easy to let go

he woke up coughing

a beautiful lady kneeling beside him

she smiled and said “hello Robert”

he could see the young girl in her face

Robert married his rescuer

they sit together on the dock every day

holding hands and smiling

Robert had finally caught his mermaid
