The mourning mourning Dove

A mourning dove sat on the railing

Soft cooing sounds filled the air

A second mourning dove arrived

More soft cooing

They watched the sunrise together

More soft cooing

They both flew off to find food

The railing looked empty

They returned a while later

Contented cooing sounds

Happy mourning doves

More soft cooing

One of them flew off

The other stayed on the railing

Sad lonely cooing sounds

Solitary mourning dove

His mate never returned

She had been taken by a hawk

He stopped cooing

Lonely mourning dove in mourning

Thought for the day, May1, 2024

The weather in Miami is getting warmer each day

Almost the end of snowbird season

In ten days we will fly north

For another summer season on the eastern shore

Why did this past winter fly by so quickly?

Will the approaching summer be over in a flash too?

Why does time go faster as you get older?
