Frogtastic

finally the storm passed

the tree frogs were barking

the sound was very frogtertaining

calling to one another in a frogfare

checking to see if anyfrogbody is missing

or froginjured when frogblown from a tree

they were all froghopping about

assembling a frog search party

what a frogtatsic gesture

by a very frogneighborly group

something frogunusual occurred

a froguement broke out

it got very frogolitical

some were being downright frogobnoxious

others became incredibly frogbarrassed

the frog leader took frogcontrol

with a frogmendous speech

he was frogadamnet

pulled them all tofrogether

labeling the frogopposites as frogrotesque

said they need to be more frogmanimus

the frogbarking continued

in total frogharmony

it was frogmazing

My waterfall

Waterfall to me does call

Liquid music fills my ears

Constantly flowing fluid soothes the soul

But slowed down to a drip it’s just torture

Rain beats a gentle rhythm on the window pane

Hail stones clatter into the glass like a tin of rusty nails

Gently freezing fluid in the clouds makes falling snowflakes

Gliding down slowly and softly kissing the ground

Snow piles up and covers everything in silence

My waterfall is frozen and muted

Warm sun starts the thaw with a torturing drip drip drip

Soon the drips speed up and my waterfall is calling me again

Park Life

Find a place a place to sit

Look around the park

It’s your people watching time

Analyze what you see

A family having a picnic

Children laughing and playing

Parents relaxed in a safe environment

Unchained from four walls

An elderly couple holding hands

Walking slowly along the path

Sharing treasured memories

They smile at you in unison

Dog walkers galore

Many owners resemble their dogs

Obedient dogs are being led

Crafty dogs lead their weary owners

Super skinny runners flash by

Sporting the latest lycra fashions

Overweight joggers wobble along

You have to admire their spirit

Skateboarders in baggy pants

Displaying battle scars from tumbles

Music piped into their ears

Living in their own little world

Smartly dressed business men

Killing time between meetings

Always glued to a cellphone

Paying no rent for this office space

Take a gentle stroll along the path

Breathe the fresh air

Park life is easy

Its a walk in the park

The sea of mixed emotions

I sometimes get angry

I don’t know why

it boils up like a raging sea

no way to avoid it

it causes me to explode

I really don’t care if those around me feel hurt

its so much more fun when I am passionate

thoughtful caring and connected

sensual and erotic

nobody can escape my love trap

lets all swim in the communal happiness pool

my love drug highs fade away

waves of sadness engulf me

cancer kills my friends

who allowed that baby to die

why did those terrorists kill so many innocent people

I miss my departed mother

war broke out again

occasionally I find myself being really nice

caring and reassuring

calm and collected

peaceful and reflecting

logic and sense flow gently through my veins

until an uninvited incision bleeds my emotions dry

I always wake up depressed

my life will never be meaningful

we are all doomed

human existence is a waste of time

floating aimlessly in a foggy ocean

suicide hails me like a long lost friend

I look at the sea

endless waves inviting me

intense patterns of reflected sunlight fuel my enthusiasm

its a signal to surf and explore

rediscover the joys of living and running free

rolling waves of emotion command the passing of time

waves keep crashing in

I must decide which one is mine

no room in my short life for negative emotions

I surf an approaching happiness wave

it carries me along for a what I hope to be an eternity

but I am quickly jettisoned into the sea of mixed emotions

Retail therapy dreams

He wakes early

Before dawn breaks

No alarm sounds

Except in his head

Dressing fast

Grabbing his camera

Outside air tastes good

Camera and tripod assembled

Anticipation, physics and beauty

The sun will rise

At a precise known time

But the colors are dictated by nature

Clouds might be illuminated

Or can block off the sun

Wind changes the water

From a mirror to a raging sea

The earth spins

Light bathes the dark sky

Clouds tinted orange

Still water is his reflective canvas

Time to capture images

Camera remote fires rapidly

In an empty theatre

Only witnessed by him and the birds

Tidal waves of colors flood the sky

Diamond flash of sun erupts center stage

This opera performs daily

Avian choir sings

More camera clicks

Transient images captured

On a silicone chip

To be engraved in his mind

Sun climbs higher

Sunrise is over

He goes inside

Climbs back in bed

She sleeps soundly

He downloads images

Post processing

Laptop keyboard clicks

Picks out one shot

She wakes bleary eyed

Staring briefly at his screen

A smile confirms

Sunrise is now in her mind’s eye

She sleeps more

Dreaming of retail therapy

Lunch with girlfriends

The alarm clock sounds

Arms swinging to kill it

“I hate mornings” she bleats

No memory of sunrise in her mind

He tries to understand why

Life Brings daily wonders

Until death

He prayed for at least one more sunrise

She went shopping
